Football fans swarm Detroit
Downtown Detroit is abuzz with Monday night football fever this evening. But they’re not talking about the Lions.
Ford Field is hosting a game between the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings.
Their game was cancelled when snow collapsed the roof of the Minneapolis Metrodome Sunday.
Fans lined up for free tickets beginning early Monday morning, but the crowd was so big the box office stopped giving them away around mid-morning.
Since then, some fans have looked to sell their tickets. Others, like Pontiac resident Ed Glass, visited nearby bars to continue their search.
“We’ve got an electronic strategy. We’re hitting Facebook and MySpace and ebay and Craigslist…doing everything we can to see what’s on there. Because to see this kind of game for free or for price or whatever…Monday Night football…is worth it.”
Glass says he and a friend are “so deep into” the experience they don’t plan to go home.
He says if they can’t find tickets, they’ll stay and watch the game in Detroit.
