Lucas Moneypenny uses oil on canvas to explore the relationship between the physical and spiritual worlds. His paintings include organic elements from nature collaged to construct an environment - a growing tree, moving water, or changing light - all exist both independent of and in relationship to human influence. Patterns of color act as figurative elements and the figure provides a body language for a spiritual state. Mr. Moneypenny studied art and design at Grand Valley State University. He has exhibited throughout southwest Michigan and at Interlochen Center for the Arts where he is employed.
