The 501 c-4 known as The New Energy to Reinvent and Diversity Fund – or “NERD Fund” for short – received $1.3 million in 2011, but in 2012 , the number was $368,000.</span></p><p>As Jonathan Oosting, a reporter for MLive.com, reports, “the NERD fund earns tax-exempt status by purporting to promote charitable causes including lessening the financial burdens of government in the state of Michigan.”</p><p>Jonathan Oosting joined us today.</p><p> Mon, 19 Aug 2013 21:25:40 +0000 Stateside Staff 14052 at http://michiganradio.org Stateside for Monday, August 19th, 2013 4 Detroit police officers shot at precinct http://michiganradio.org/post/4-detroit-police-officers-shot-precinct <p><strong>Update: 11:07 a.m.:</strong></p><p><a href="http://www.freep.com/article/20110124/NEWS01/110124019/1318/Police-chief-IDs-Detroit-precinct-shooter-">The Detroit Free Press</a> has an update on the shooting at a Detroit police station yesterday:</p><blockquote><p>Police today identified the man they say shot four officers in the Detroit Police Department’s Northwestern District Sunday as Lamar Deshea Moore.</p></blockquote><p>Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr said they don't know what the shooter's motive was.
