We are seeking a professional editor/producer who can handle a variety of duties.</p><ul type="disc"><li>Generating and developing ideas for compelling essay</li><li>Soliciting and recruiting occasional and regular contributors from diverse walks of life</li><li>Editing essays to conversational web friendly style</li><li>Handle digital presentation of essays</li><li>Produce, schedule and edit on-air interview based on essay with contributor</li><li>Recording interviews with an ear to assuring proper content is obtained</li><li>Promote essays and on-air segments in social media</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><p>The Senior Producer/Editor must be self-motivated, very well organized and have experience in broadcast production and text or print journalism.</p><p><strong><u>Required Qualifications:</u></strong><br />Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent of experience and knowledge; demonstrated experience in editing, copy-editing and headline writing; experience building a journalism project from the ground up; experience in editorial decision-making required; complete proficiency with digital audio editing is required; ability to craft a focused segment a necessity; ability to produce high-quality work on deadline and handle several projects at once; strong editorial judgment. Responsibilities include creating content for the state of opportunity website, maintaining a robust social media presence for the project, and assisting in the research and pre-interviews for State of Opportunity’s Infowire project.</p><p>The internship is paid $10 per hour and is a 20 hour/week commitment during normal business hours.</p><p>A successful intern will understand the journalistic opportunities presented by social media and have excellent writing skills.
