Last month, my wife found a hat on a fence post along S. Ashley St.</p><p>Thinking someone lost it, she took a closer look to discover a note that read &quot;<strong>FREE! The music they play is what you might call &ldquo;backwoods music.&rdquo;</p><p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re modern people reaching back to older songs and traditions; we&rsquo;re interpreters and explorers of older culture. Learning from the past is an essential aspect in art, and for us it&rsquo;s been formative. He says he got message from people from all over the country.</p><blockquote><p>"One man said that he lived in four different continents, and he’s met somebody from Cass in four different continents. So Cass Tech touches not just locally, it’s a global reach."</p></blockquote><p>Since June, demolition of the almost 100 year old building has been in progress.&nbsp; The facade of the building facing Second Avenue is the only thing still standing. Lockard hopes people will visit the site one last time and reunite with old friends.</p><p>Arvella Watkins says the building was special. Lamb prices are good. And the farmland in Michigan not suited for traditional crops makes for good pasture.</p><p>I visited Jack and Martha Knorek who showed me around their farm during the height of spring lambing season.</p><p>The mama ewes were a little camera shy, so unfortunately I didn&#39;t get to see a lamb being born. One was born ten minutes before I arrived, and another was born about an hour after I left. That&#39;s it. Or half of it. During the 70&#39;s and 80&#39;s the Club operated under a series of other names. Many remember The Winery, La Cave, or AJ&#39;s on the Park.</p><p>In 1985 the famous club closed and remained empty until in late 2005.</p></blockquote><p>Like a lot of places in Detroit, it was left empty for a long time. Doing our best to make it comprehensive, we broke each of the Ten Threats into several stories.</p><p>We joked that the "Ten Threats" series turned into a 33-part series as we dug deeper into the issues.</p><p>For the series, I traveled to northwest Ohio and met with Lynn Davis. His grandfather had started a farm drainage business in 1910 using a steam powered trenching machine. The Terminal was built in 1929 by a railroad company. Produce was shipped in by rail and wholesalers bid on it at an auction.
