He&rsquo;ll oversee Flint&rsquo;s Finance, Budget and Treasury Departments.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><a href="">Howard Croft</a> is coming over from the private sector. The CEO of Mid-Michigan Solar will be Flint&rsquo;s new Director of Infrastructure and Development. Croft will oversee Flint&rsquo;s city parks, water and sewer,&nbsp;as well as Community and Economic Development.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><a href="">Gary Bates</a> has previously worked as Flint&rsquo;s Labor Relations director. He&rsquo;s been hired to fill that job temporarily.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Emergency manager Michael Brown has laid off about a dozen top city officials since taking office two weeks ago. He&rsquo;s charged with solving Flint&rsquo;s &lsquo;financial emergency&rsquo;&hellip;which includes closing a multi-million dollar budget deficit.&nbsp; Wed, 14 Dec 2011 16:38:43 +0000 Steve Carmody 5388 at Flint emergency manager hires his team to run the city Lansing decides city budget tonight <p>The Lansing city council is scheduled to vote on next year&#39;s city budget this evening.&nbsp;&nbsp; Declining property values and rising health care costs are forcing&nbsp;deep spending cuts.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;City leaders hope an estimated 4 million dollars in state&nbsp;revenue sharing will allow a reduction in the number of possible police and fire fighter layoffs.</p><p><br />Jerry Ambrose is Lansing&#39;s city finance director.&nbsp; &nbsp; He says the&nbsp;Mayor&#39;s office is also seeking 3 million dollars in union contract concessions, mainly in health care coverage.&nbsp;</p> Mon, 16 May 2011 17:49:08 +0000 Steve Carmody 2513 at Lansing decides city budget tonight City of Lansing facing $15 million budget deficit in FY12 <p>The City of <a href=",_Michigan">Lansing</a> is facing a potential $15 million&nbsp;budget deficit.&nbsp;&nbsp; City Finance Director Jerry Ambrose says there is a growing chasm between Lansing&rsquo;s projected spending needs fiscal year 2012 and the city&rsquo;s projected revenue. FY2012 begins June 30th, 2011.&nbsp; Ambrose says the city expects to spend $118 million&nbsp;next year delivering city services, but city revenues are only expected to reach $103 million.
