The planned auction of parts of the old Pontiac Silverdome is on hold.
This week, parts of the Silverdome were supposed to go on sale.
People were going to be able to buy forklifts, generators, soap dispensers, and even a Zamboni.
But the sale is now on hold for up to three weeks, and it’s not clear why.
The company has issued a cryptic statement that says the auction “has been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control.”
The 80,000 seat stadium that was once the home of the Detroit Lions was sold in 2009 for $500,000. Since then, the stadium hosted a few events, but lately has fallen into disrepair. Its inflatable roof is torn to shreds, and its interior is crumbling.
The Silverdome’s future is as unclear as the future of the auction of its remaining assets.
