The Wolverines have "arguably the best defense in the nation right now," Bacon told us.

It’s time to check in with Michigan Radio sports commentator, John U. Bacon.

For Tigers fans, the baseball season is over. There won’t even be that make-up day for the rained-out game last week.

The Tigers ended the season with a 1-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

According to Bacon, relief pitching is to thank for the Tigers’ inconsistency this year.

“They must have blown 10 to 20, easily, games along the way,” he said. “Pathetic performance by their relief pitching. That’s the problem.”

Meanwhile, University of Michigan football got its first win against a top 10 team since 2008 with Saturday’s victory over the Wisconsin Badgers.

So what’s working for the Wolverines this year?

“Defense, defense, defense,” Bacon said. “That defense might be the best in the nation right now.”

Listen to our conversation above for more of Bacon’s take on the Tigers, Wolverines, Jim Caldwell, Michigan State, and more.
