Attention “Breaking Bad” fans (read: almost everyone): Bryan Cranston’s latest role has a Michigan twist.

Cranston, the 57-year-old star of “Breaking Bad” and of course, “Malcolm in the Middle,” signed on for the lead role in the new movie, “Holland, Michigan.”

Academy Award-winning director Errol Morris is expected to direct the film, a thriller centered on a family from – you guessed it – Holland.

According to IMDb, the film centers on a woman, actress Naomi Watts, “who suspects her husband is cheating, and enters into an affair of her own, before learning her husband's true, dark secret life.”

While the film’s story takes place in Holland, and even includes a tulip festival in the plot, it’s not clear whether any on-location filming will take place.

From MLive’s John Serba

Producers have been looking at filming in Holland, but haven't confirmed a location yet, according to Rick Hert, executive director of the West Michigan Film Office. "The problem they face is, the $50 million in incentives offered by the state film office (for 2014), and the $7 million left over from last year, has already been eaten up,"Hert said.

Serba reports most of the state’s film incentive funds, which have faced cuts since the program launched in 2008, have been used by the “Batman vs. Superman” project led by Ben Affleck.
