King Solomon Baptist Church in Detroit is hosting a job fair today that hopes to attract ex-offenders and people battling addiction.

Rev. Charles Williams II is the pastor of the church.

"We can't talk about guns and drugs without opening up an opportunity for jobs to exist inside this community," Williams said.

He says people can learn about both job and training opportunities at the fair.

"This is an opportunity to open that door so they can move from the street to a place where they can take care of themselves and their family," Williams said.

In May, Michigan law enforcement officials called for businesses to hire more ex-convicts. In June, the U.S. Department of Labor awarded the state and Detroit a grant to get ex-offenders back into the workforce.

The job fair will be held at the church today from 4 to 6 p.m.
