An off-duty police officer's gun accidentally went off at his son's wrestling meet at Fowlerville High School.

Authorities are conducting an internal investigation after an off-duty police officer's gun accidentally went off at a high school wrestling meet this weekend.

The officer was at Fowlerville High School about 25 miles east of Lansing to watch his son wrestle on Saturday.

The bullet didn't hit anyone, but it did get stuck in the gym floor. One person twisted their ankle as people ran out of the gym.

The meet was interrupted for about an hour.

The internal investigation report will be reviewed by the Livingston County Prosecutor's Office.

In March a police officer left a loaded gun in a middle school locker room in the mid-Michigan village of Shepherd.
