Flint school officials are putting their search for a new superintendent on the fast track.

The Flint Board of Education has done little publicly sincedumping Superintendent Bilal Tawwab back in March.   The district hired a former emergency manager to serve as interim superintendent.

But now Flint school officials say they plan to have a new permanent superintendent in place by September.

On Friday the school district announced it will accept applications for the superintendent’s position until July 9th.   A district spokesman says job interviews will be conducted next month.

“As we look ahead to the 2018-2019 school year, we are committed to identifying a strong and dedicated leader to drive improved outcomes for the students of Flint,” says Diana Wright, FCS Board President.

Wright says they are looking for someone focused on improving student achievement and attendance, two areas Flint schools have struggled with for years.
