For more than 40 years, Mustard's Retreat has been carrying the banner of folk music. The group's newest album Make Your Own Luck is out now.

Band-members Libby Glover, Michael Hough, and David Tamulevich joined Stateside’s Cynthia Canty to talk about their long career in folk and the group's Defiantly Hopeful tour.

“Defiantly hopeful — I think that's what folk music is all about," said Tamulevich. "I think Pete Seeger said, 'there are defeats, there are always gonna be defeats, it's what you do after the defeat and how you carry on.' I think that's what folk music is all about.

Glover said this new album has a positive message, and she thinks that is something people need right now — a way to bring their blood pressure down.

Mustard's Retreat will be atThe Ark Wednesday, July 26th and the Harsen's Island Roots Music Festival the following Saturday the 28th. More information can be found on their website.
