Growth in enrollment, college attendance among priorities for new Detroit schools superintendent

Vitti plans to focus first on the 46,000 students currently enrolled in the district. When those families "start to expereince something new, different, fresher... parents will come back to the school system who have left."

It’s been a high-speed first few days on the job for Detroit’s new school superintendent.

Nikolai Vitti began his new job last Tuesday and jumped right in with school visits, and meeting and talking with teachers, parents and staffers.

Today, he was part of a panel discussion at the Mackinac Policy Conference. He joined Stateside from the island to discusshis prioritiesfor the Detroit school district in the coming years.
