Every morning at 9 a.m. we bat around story ideas for the day during our news meetings. We come up with our own ideas, but we don't always know what YOU are interested in.
That's why we have this little project called MI Curious. It works like this:
- You ask a question.
- The public votes.
- We look for an answer to the winning question.
- We share the results!
We've answered a lot of questions over the course of this project. You can see the answers here.
This time around we wanted to know what questions people had about mental health issues in Michigan. We received 15 questions and narrowed it down to three for our latest voting round.
More than 300 votes were cast, and Don Williams from Holland, Michigan submitted the winning question.
Williams wants to know:
Why are public resources for mental health issues very uneven between Michigan counties?
Williams has a friend who is an Ottawa County Commissioner. Through his experience and his conversations with his friend, Williams is aware there's a big difference in what resources are available to people in Michigan depending on where they live.
We'll do our best to untangle Williams' question in the coming weeks. And like all MI Curious stories, we've invited the person who asked the question to help us investigate it. Hopefully we can discover the answer together.
