Lansing city council may ask voters about proposed changes to BWL

Some controversial changes to Lansing’s utility go before the city council Monday.

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero thinks his office should have greater oversight of the Board of Water and Light.

He wants an inspector general that would report to him about BWL’s inner workings.

The utility’s highly criticized response to a major winter storm in 2013 led to many changes.

This week the city council will consider asking voters to approve more changes.
