Larry Nassar returns to court, where 57 more survivors will face him

Jan 30, 2018

Larry Nassar's final criminal sentencing starts Wednesday. The former Michigan State University and Olympic sports doctor has already received what amounts to two life sentences. He was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison for possessing tens of thousands of images of child pornography and another 40-175 years in state prison for sexually abusing young athletes. Nassar is 54 years old.

In the sexual abuse cases, Nassar took a universal plea deal that covers two different counties: Ingham, where he sexually assaulted patients at his MSU clinic; and Eaton County, where he abused girls at Twistars gymnastics club.

The sentencing you saw all over the news last week was in Ingham County Judge Rosemarie Aquilina’s court. That’s where more than 150 women and girls, as well as their families, confronted Nassar in court.

In Eaton County, the attorney general’s office says they expected at least 57 additional survivors to speak.
