Michigan Radio is looking for a digital media intern to help produce and improve the content available at michiganradio.org, and to help maintain the station’s social media channels.
This is an opportunity to work with a fun team in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be connected to social media trends, aware of the changing digital media environment, and, of course, have an eye for news.
Applicants should have a strong interest and/or knowledge of digital news and multimedia production. They should also have strong writing and communication skills and be self-motivated and dependable.
Knowledge of multimedia software applications (i.e., Adobe Suite) and photography/videography experience is a plus.
The digital media intern will work with Michigan Radio reporters and format copy, add photos or videos, add links, build maps, create polls, and come up with other creative content to improve story presentation.
They will also work with reporters and the Multimedia Producer to prepare stories for online publication ahead of time. Depending on the projects that come up, other duties could include gathering and taking photos, shooting video, and gathering or producing audio.
The digital media intern will work closely with the Social Media Producer to help further develop our engaged, online audience. A sense of humor is a plus.
Here’s what we can offer you: the opportunity to work with award-winning public radio reporters in a major market, an environment where no idea is too big, and the occasional free food.
We have a lot of dynamic projects we’d like to tackle this summer, and we want you to be a part of it!
This paid internship starts as soon as possible.
If interested, please email a cover letter, resume, and at least two writing samples to Social Media Producer Jodi Westrick (email@example.com) and Multimedia Producer Emma Winowiecki (firstname.lastname@example.org). Including links to multimedia projects is encouraged. Be sure to include DIGITAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP in the subject line.
A 15-20 hour/week during normal business hours is requested. Please include times and dates available for work in your email.
