Michigan singer explores Beaver Island’s Irish roots on new album

Else explores the shared history between Beaver Island and Ireland in her new album.

With plaintive, lovely songs, Katie Else brings us the shared history between Ireland and Michigan's Beaver Island.

The song "When First I Went To Sea" is on Katie's new album called Songs from across the Lake and SeaIt's mainly traditional songs from Ireland and Scotland — and Michigan. This version was recorded at Michigan Radio's studios. 

Else joined Stateside to talk about her new album, what drew her to Irish music, and the deep connections between Ireland and Beaver Island.
