A lawyer for Michigan State University tells Attorney General Bill Schuette that no MSU officials knew about the predatory behavior of a former sports doctor on its faculty.
The letter from former federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald says MSU officials first learned of allegations regarding Larry Nassar last year from newspaper reports.

That was in response to a request from Schuette that MSU provide him with a copy of its internal review. Fitzgerald said there is no copy of a report to share.
“At this time, we are reviewing the letter we received from Mr. Fitzgerald to evaluate our next step,” said Schuette's press secretary, Andrea Bitely is Schuette’s press secretary.

Fitzgerald offered to brief Schuette on his inquiry, but also said he has to protect the university’s position in lawsuits filed by families of Nassar’s victims.
