The new look for the police cars was unveiled at the groundbreaking ceremony this morning at Detroit's new $60 million public safety headquarters.

The Detroit Free Press' Eric Lawrence has a twitterpic of the new building as well:

The building once was the temporary home of the MGM Grand Casino.

The new facility will house city police and fire operations, as well as IT Services, and Detroit's Homeland Security and Emergency Management office.

The project was funded through bond money. The old police headquarters has been plagued by falling plaster, lead-based paint, and frequent plumbing leaks. In 2005, the state had ordered the city to fix up the old building after workers complained.

Mark Brush was the station's Digital Media Director. He succumbed to a year-long battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, in March 2018. He was 49 years old.
