Private Traverse City school will only admit vaccinated kids

A private school in Traverse City will now only admit students who are vaccinated.

The Children's House takes infants all the way through seventh graders.

Administrators became worried about the babies earlier this year, when they realized 30% of their students had vaccination waivers.

They brought that down to 15% just by talking with parents. Many had actually been encouraged by the school to sign a vaccine waiver if their kid missed a vaccine or just fell behind on scheduled vaccinations, so that the school could remain in compliance with state regulations.

The new policy is a way to keep bringing down the unvaccinated rate, without kicking out families who already attend but don't want to vaccinate.
