A group of protesters angry at Governor Rick Snyder gathered in front of Flint city hall Friday.

People holding signs saying “Fire Rick Snyder” and “Arrest Snyder,” along with one protester wearing a giant Rick Snyder papier-mache head and prison stripes, made their displeasure with Michigan’s governor clear.

Monica Lewis-Patrick with We The People of Detroit says she believes something criminal has happened with Flint water.  But she says the problem is deeper.

“Even if you remove Snyder, if you don’t deal with the policies that are embedded in this emergency management and this ability to set aside democracy, we will just have this process repeat over and over again,” Lewis-Patrick says.

Governor Snyder has apologized for the mistakes that tainted Flint’s drinking water with lead.

The governor signed a disaster declaration this week that may lead to federal help to fix Flint’s damaged water system and address health concerns.
