Robocalls attack House candidates, no way to find out who's behind them

Many of us can’t wait for this election year to be over. We’ve seen a lot of things we’ve never seen before, and little of it has been good.

That’s not limited to the presidential race. It’s happening all over Michigan in races for the state House of Representatives.

For instance, there are two secretive funds using robocalls to attack candidates in key districts. You might have received one of those robocalls or gotten a mailing.

You’re supposed to be able to know who’s sending out those calls and cards, but it’s particularly murky this year.

Michigan Campaign Finance Network Executive Director Craig Mauger sat down with us today to talk about who’s responsible for these robocalls and what legislators can do to make good on their promise to be more transparent.
