President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the longest-serving president in U.S. history, died this day in 1945.
Dr. Howard Markel, a University of Michigan medical historian and PBS contributor, joined Stateside to discuss what history tells us about FDR's passing, and to talk about FDR's "special friend." He also talks about Michigan's own historic medical moment that came ten years later, and why the March of Dimes foundation might be one of the greatest presidential tributes.
