Stateside for Tuesday, November 3, 2015

  Today on Stateside:

  • A special partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County and Lawrence Technological University in Southfield will allow graduate architecture students to develop new ways to make houses really fit the needs of the people who will live in them.

  • The Grand Rapids Federation of Musicians is trying to come to a contract agreement with the Grand Rapids Symphony. Its four-year contract expired at the end of August. Bruce Ridge joins us to explain some of the troubles facing symphony orchestras since the Great Recession.

  • For hundreds of thousands of Michiganders, the falling leaves of autumn mean one thing:  hunting season. The tradition is centuries old, but now hunters can turn to a new smartphone app to help.

  • This week, more than 20 of Michigan's top CEOs are on what you might call a "field trip." They're visiting Israel to discover what it took to transform that nation into one of the most innovative economies in the world, all in the span of just 70 years.

  • It's no secret that the city of Flint is wrestling with huge challenges. But a recent story in The New York Times sheds light on an interesting trend: despite its difficulties and dangers, international students are coming to Flint.
