There’s a touch of Pure Michigan in PyeongChang: The fake snow.

If you’ve been watching the Winter Olympics in South Korea, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve seen the product of a Michigan company.

The snow on the ski slopes is manufactured snow — fake snow — made by Snow Makers Incorporated based in Midland.

Brooke VanderKelen Alba, who’s in sales and marketing at SMI, joined Stateside today. She discussed her company’s long-collaboration with the Winter Olympics, the services Snow Makers provides for the games and for other venues, and what it takes to make all that snow.
