The governor’s Flint water crisis task force is turning its attention to the city’s hot water heaters.
Some people in Flint say the city’s tainted water has damaged their hot water heaters. Some claim their tanks have exploded.
“Tanks blow up for a lot of reasons," says Mike Zimmer, the director of the state department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. He’s heading a sub-committee looking into Flint’s water heaters.
Zimmer says they have a lot of questions to answer.
“What are the possible impacts? What kind of testing and sampling protocols should we do? If we need to do that?" says Zimmer.
The panel's report is due next month.
Meanwhile, Zimmer says homeowners should flush their hot water heaters, as part of regular maintenance.
