The football teams of the University of Michigan and the University of Texas have agreed – in principle – to play each other.
In 2024. So don't hold your breath.
U of M has racked up the highest number of total victories; Texas, the third highest.

The Wolverines will host the Longhorns at Michigan Stadium on Aug. 31, 2024. The return trip by Michigan to Austin will take place on Sept. 4, 2027.
“A match-up of this magnitude doesn’t come along all that often, and when it does its special for both programs and the great fans that support each institution,” said Brady Hoke, U-M’s J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach. “This also is a special series for all fans of college football, and I anticipate great games just like the first contest played between the two programs.”
The only previous match-up between Michigan and Texas happened in the 2005 Rose Bowl game. The back-and-forth affair ended with a 37-yard field from the Longhorns as time expired to secure a 38-37 victory over the Wolverines. Kicker Garrett Rivas gave U-M a 37-35 lead with 3:04 remaining on a 42-yard field goal. Braylon Edwards led the offense with 10 receptions for 109 yards and three touchdowns in the contest.
