Michigan Radio is looking for an online news intern to help produce and improve the content available on

This internship runs from January 5  through May 1, 2015.

Interns will search for relevant news stories and help create daily posts for online news publication.

They will work with content created by Michigan Radio reporters and format copy, add photos or videos, add links, build maps, create polls, and come up with other creative content to improve story presentation.

The online news intern will also work with reporters to prepare stories for online publication ahead of time. Depending on the projects that come up, other duties could include gathering and taking photos, shooting video, and gathering or producing audio.

The online news intern will develop insights into multimedia production and presentation.

They will also become familiar with how a public radio station in a major market operates.

Applicants should have strong interest and/or knowledge of online news and online news presentation.

They should also have strong writing and communication skills and be self-motivated and dependable. Knowledge of multimedia software applications is a plus. The internship is unpaid and a 10-15 hour/week commitment during normal business hours is requested.

Job Summary

The Business Systems Analyst will work closely with internal and external customers to support data audits, integrity checks, edits and cleanups based on policies, standards and customer requests.

The Business Systems Analyst will work closely with other University Development and Michigan Radio Development staff to assist and support the comprehensive fund-raising programs of Michigan Radio.  The Business Systems Analyst will help in the creation of ad hoc reports for the Michigan Radio development staff and create and manage DART/Blackbaud CRM and Allegiance databases. This position will also evaluate various courses of action to ensure the integrity of the DART/ Blackbaud CRM and Allegiance databases. The Business Systems Analyst Associate will support systems and procedures that maintain strict confidentiality of donor data to comply with CPB rules and regulations.

This position works in an environment dedicated to advancing the mission of Michigan Radio and the university. The position will build positive and meaningful relationships with co-workers and customers.


Michigan Radio currently has an open internship position in our interview production unit. Responsibilities include generating interview topics, researching possible guests, conducting pre-interviews, locating background materials for the  host and producers, and arranging interview times with guests and studios.

There may also be opportunities to participate in the technical setup in the studio, as well as with field recording and man-on-the-street interviews.

The internship is unpaid and a 12-hour-per-week commitment during normal business hours is requested.

Job Summary
Michigan Radio is seeking a motivated and persuasive Corporate Sponsorship Account Executive with a winning attitude to join our public radio sales team. Working as an account executive in public broadcasting is similar to that of a salesperson in commercial broadcasting or local print media. An account executive is expected to make cold-calls to decision makers at local and regional businesses to solicit and manage corporate account relationships for Michigan Radio.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear understanding and appreciation for public radio. Must have the ability to identify and meet with business owners, key decision makers and advertising agencies to secure sponsorship support for Michigan Radio. $30,000 Salary plus Commission Plan.
