The NCAA has opened an investigation into Michigan State University's role in the Larry Nassar scandal.

This comes as the number of accusers is up to 265. 

At the same time, ESPN reports allegations of a pattern of mishandled sexual assault cases involving Spartan football and basketball players  – allegations that football coach Mark Dantonio and basketball coach Tom Izzo are still struggling to clearly address.

An ESPN report over the weekend reveals a long-time pattern of denial, lack of action, and allegations of incidents involving Spartan football and basketball players.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is considering whether to launch an inquiry into Michigan State University in the wake of the sentencing of one of the school's sports doctors who sexually assaulted women and girls.

Problems keep piling up for Michigan State University.

The sports doctor Larry Nassar, sitting in jail on federal and state criminal sexual assault charges, accused of assaulting the gymnasts who turned to him for care. The woman's gymnastics coach who retired after it became known she vigorously supported Nassar, even in the face of athletes' complaints.

And, two separate allegations of sexual assault against Spartan football players since January.

Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio took swift action to kick three football players off the team once criminal charges against them were announced.

The three players face charges related to an alleged assault of a woman that took place on MSU's campus on January 16.

Dantonio says all players – and especially freshmen – have education "thrown at them" about how to act on campus.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Jared Jacobs, a 38-year-old sports fanatic has recreated two of the most memorable plays from the Mark Dantonio era of Spartan football.

With so much buzz around Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan Radio sports commentator John U. Bacon thought he'd recount the coach's beginnings at the university.

Harbaugh's father was a defensive backs coach under the leadership of Michigan's legendary Bo Schembechler, and during this time Harbaugh was a ball boy for the team.
