As the Prosecuting Attorney for Ingham County, Stuart Dunnings III was the guy who sent people to prison. Today, the disgraced former prosecutor stood before a judge in Genesee County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to a felony charge of misconduct in office, and a misdemeanor charge of engaging the services of a prostitute.

Dunnings had been facing 15 prostitution-related charges that were spread over three counties. He was sentenced to three years probation, with the first year to be served in county jail.

Former Ingham County prosecutor Stuart Dunnings will spend a year in jail for misconduct in office and engaging the services of a prostitute.

He was sentenced today on the misdemeanor charges he pleaded guilty to back in August. Originally, Dunnings was charged with more than a dozen prostitution-related counts.

His arrest earlier this year stemmed from a federal investigation into human trafficking.

Prosecutors say Dunnings paid women for sex over several years.

Former Ingham County Prosecuting Attorney Stuart Dunnings pleaded guilty to one felony and one misdemeanor Tuesday in front of a Jackson district court judge.

Dunnings was facing 14 misdemeanors and one 15-year felony. The charges ranged from soliciting prostitutes to encouraging a woman to become a prostitute. Dunnings pleaded guilty to felony misconduct in office and one misdemeanor for soliciting a prostitute. He now faces up to five years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines.

Stuart Dunnings, Ingham County's disgraced prosecutor, has filed an application to begin receiving his pension benefits.

Dunnings will officially step down on July 1, after he was accused of paying prostitutes for sex hundreds of times. 

He faces 15 charges in three separate counties. Preliminary exams in the cases have not yet been scheduled.

Dunnings' pension plan, Municipal Employees Retirement System of Michigan (MERS), says it will not disclose how much he will receive.

A Lansing advocate for domestic violence victims says there's one piece of good news in the arrest this week of longtime Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III for hiring prostitutes: He got caught.

Dunnings stands accused of paying for sex hundreds of times with many women between 2010 and 2015.

“Disheartening,” says Michigan’s attorney general.

“A betrayal,” says the Ingham County sheriff.

They are talking about a laundry list of criminal charges filed today against a long-time county prosecutor.

Stuart Dunnings lll has been Ingham County’s prosecutor for nearly 20 years.

He now faces up to 20 years in prison.

Dunnings was arrested at a Lansing-area coffee shop this morning. He’s been charged with multiple prostitution-related charges, including soliciting and pandering. He’s also charged with neglect of office.
