Ypsi teen whose family faces deportation: "It's very devastating"

Update 5:20 p.m.

Attorney Brad Thomson said the stay of removal was granted so the family can remain together until a decision from the Board of Immigration Appeals is made on the motion to reopen their case.

Original post 4:40 p.m.

Without intervention by the Board of Immigration Appeals, Susana Bernabé-Ramirez and her daughter Sayra Hernandez must be on a one-way flight to Mexico tomorrow.

Bernabé-Ramirez will be forced to leave her 11-year-old daughter Isabella behind. Isabella was born here in the United States, so she’s a citizen. She also has epilepsy, and she needs the medical care she’s getting here in Michigan.

Sayra describes how she feels about potentially having to leave for Mexico and leaving her little sister behind:

Listen to our full interview with Sayra, her mother and their attorney below.
