Flint police credited with being a good return on investment

A new report claims the Flint Police Department is tops in the nation when it comes to its return on investment.

Flint’s police department has endured budget cuts for years as the city has struggling with high violent crime rate.

But a report by WalletHub.com claims Flint residents are getting the better return on investment of their tax dollars than any of the nation’s largest 110 cities.

“I think they’re really overcoming a lot in Flint,” says WalletHub’s Jill Gonzalez.

Gonzalez notes that Flint is ranked as having the highest poverty rate, lowest median household income and highest unemployment rate of cities on the survey.

Gonzalez says Flint is doing a better job managing its police budget than cities like Omaha, Nebraska or Durham, North Carolina, which both have lower crime rates.
