Some art in Detroit and Toledo listed among nation's most endangered

Heidelberg Project

A new report lists public art in Detroit and Toledo among the most endangered in the United States.

The Heidelberg Project in Detroit and the works of Greek-American artist Athena Tachain Toledo are on the list compiled by theCultural Landscape Foundation. The group works to preserve and protect notable U.S. landscapes.

The foundation this week released its list of the most endangered land-based art threatened with demolition, neglect, poor maintenance, vandalism, and lack of funding.

The Heidelberg Project is a good example of those at risk. The collection of wildly eccentrically decorated homes in Detroit have fallen victim to arson in recent years.
