The son of Gerald R. Ford reflects on his father's time in office

Steven Ford joined us today to discuss his father, the 38th President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford.

On Friday, the film A Test of Character airs on National Geographic at 9 p.m. Eastern. It tells the story of President Ford and the challenging time in history during which he took office.

Steven Ford said that film explores “the uniqueness” of his father’s route to the presidency. President Ford was the first president to enter into office without being elected by the public.

He said the film highlights his father’s nature.

“The story that’s going to be told on Nat. Geo tomorrow night is one of – he probably got to that position, that place in history, because of his own personal character,” Steven Ford said. “There were people along the line of his life all the way to Congress and vice president and president that came alongside of him because of his character.”

See the film's trailer below.
