New charter school to focus on Chaldean heritage

A new charter school in Madison Heights hopes to preserve Chaldean heritage. 

Keys Grace Academy will be open to any student, but school officials expect most to be Chaldean. It will serve children from pre-kindergarden through high school.

The terror being inflicted by ISIS against Christians in Iraq is forcing hundreds to leave the country.

Michigan is home to the second-largest Chaldean community in the world, so many of these refugees have now made it to the Metro Detroit area.

The withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and Arab Spring revolutions have meant a year of anxiety for Metro Detroit’s Arab Christian community.

Most members of that community are Chaldean, mostly Iraqi Catholics. Southeast Michigan is home to the largest Chaldean population outside Iraq.
